3 Things to Do After Mold Treatment

When you live in the south, you know about mold and mildew. But what if it gets into your HVAC system? Some mold treatment steps are necessary to ensure your home is safe, including steps to take after the treatment is complete. Here are three things to do after mold treatment.

#1: Change Your Filter More Often

After your HVAC company has undergone mold treatment steps, you don’t want to face more mold growth. Proper airflow is the number one way to prevent mold growth in your HVAC system, and a clean air filter is the best way to ensure that the air can flow freely from the intake vents.

#2: Clean and Insulate Your Air Ducts

Steps after your mold treatment should include regularly scheduling air duct cleaning. Clean ducts without dust and dirt lining the inside are less likely to attract mold and mildew. Insulating your ducts is another way to help prevent mold because it reduces condensation, lowering the humidity levels inside the system.

#3: Install a Dehumidifier

One of the most significant steps you can take after mold treatment is to invest in a dehumidifier. With our mild and humid climate, our indoor air can hold onto the excess humidity making our HVAC systems a prime location for mold to settle and colonize. A dehumidifier removes that extra humidity from the air making your house less likely to host mold and mildew, as well as making it more comfortable.
